S-Mode Camera Privacy Policy

S-Mode Camera is developed and provided by Fotograf Goran Strand AB, Sweden (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app.
Information collected by the app
S-Mode Camera does not collect or transmit your photos, videos, audio recordings, location, or usage activity to us.
The app does not require an account and contains no advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics software. Photo and video capture and camera processing take place on your device. We cannot access your camera feed, microphone recordings, or photo library through the app.
S-Mode Camera does not operate its own cloud storage service.
Camera, microphone, and Photos permissions
The app requests access to:
- Camera: To display the preview, adjust focus and exposure, take photos, and record video.
- Microphone: To record sound with your videos. Photo capture does not require microphone access.
- Photos — saving: To add captured photos and videos to your library. Saving alone requires only permission to add items.
- Photos — browsing and deletion: When you first tap the library preview button, the app requests optional Photos read/write access. This lets you browse accessible photos and videos, starting with the latest and including items created by other apps, and request deletion of the displayed item. With limited access, the app can access only the items you allow.
Declining library read access does not prevent you from taking photos or recording video. Saving to Photos still requires permission to add items.
You can manage or revoke permissions in iOS Settings. Disabling a permission may prevent the corresponding feature from working.
Face detection and autofocus
S-Mode Camera uses on-device face detection to prioritize autofocus and display face indicators in the camera preview.
This processing does not identify people or create identity profiles. Face-detection information is not sent to us or stored by the app as a separate biometric database.
People visible in photos or videos you capture remain part of those images and recordings.
Optional location information
Save location is off by default.
If you enable it and grant location permission, the app uses a recent available position to record where a photo was taken or a video started. Approximate location is supported. If no recent position is available, capture continues without location.
Location access is used only while the app is in the foreground and the feature is enabled. The app does not request background location access.
Location is attached to the item in your Photos library. The app does not embed coordinates in the original photo or video file.
While an item is waiting to save, its location is kept in a private local record excluded from backups. That record is deleted after a successful save.
Turning Save location off stops location access and deletes pending location records. It does not remove locations already saved in Photos; those can be edited or removed in Photos.
Location is never sent to us or included in the app’s technical reports. Photos may sync location through iCloud or include it when sharing, depending on your Apple settings and sharing choices.
Library viewing, sharing, and deletion
The app’s built-in library viewer lets you browse accessible photos and videos, including items created by other apps. It supports photo zoom, video playback, sharing, and deletion.
The viewer prepares temporary private copies of the current item and nearby items for viewing, playback, and sharing. These copies are removed as you browse away, when you close the viewer, or on the next app launch after an interruption.
Viewing items stored only in iCloud may download them through Apple Photos. Full-resolution photos may also load on demand when you zoom. Photos and videos viewed in the app are not sent to us.
If you choose to share an item, its copy is sent to the destination you select. The recipient or service you choose handles the shared information according to its own practices and policies.
The viewer does not edit original library items. If you tap the trash button and confirm the iOS deletion request, the displayed item is deleted from Photos. Deletions may sync through iCloud according to your Apple settings. Cancelling the request keeps the item.
Local storage and retention
Camera preferences are stored locally on your device.
Captured photos and videos are initially written to the app’s storage and then saved to Photos. The temporary original is normally deleted after the save succeeds. If saving fails, the original is retained so you can retry saving or retrieve it through Files.
You can delete saved items in Photos or through the app’s library viewer, and retained originals in Files.
Deleting the app removes its local settings and remaining local files, but does not delete photos or videos already saved to Photos.
If you use iCloud Photos or device backups, your media or app files may be stored by Apple according to your settings. Pending location records are excluded from backups as described above.
Technical reports and Apple services
The app stores local technical reports about camera capabilities and capture results, including formats, image dimensions, exposure settings, and timing.
These reports contain no images, audio, location, or face-detection data and are not sent to us. They are removed when you delete the app.
The app may also write camera-session messages to your device’s system logs to help diagnose interruptions. These describe camera state and interruption reasons, not recorded images or audio.
Apple processes App Store purchases. S-Mode Camera does not receive your payment-card information.
Apple may process usage information and diagnostics under your Apple privacy settings and its own policies.
Support communications
If you contact us for support, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your contact details, message, and attachments.
We use that information to respond to your request and resolve the issue. Support information is retained only as long as necessary for those purposes or applicable legal obligations.
You may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information you have provided.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or its privacy practices change. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
