S-Mode Camera
S-Mode Camera — Your shutter. Your shot.
Choose your shutter speed. Let Auto ISO handle exposure. Record video with face-priority autofocus, focus lock and simple controls that stay out of the way.
Take photos and record video with control over shutter speed. Auto ISO adjusts to the light, while simple focus, exposure and white balance controls keep you in charge of the image.
CONTROL HOW YOU CAPTURE MOTION
Choose a fast shutter to freeze movement or a slower shutter to let motion show. S-Mode Camera brings shutter-priority photography and video to your iPhone, with a clear interface that keeps your attention on the scene.
Swipe the shutter wheel to select an exposure time, with subtle haptic feedback as you move between settings. Available shutter speeds range from 1/24 to 1/8000 second, depending on the camera and capture mode. Auto ISO adjusts automatically, and exposure compensation from −2 to +2 EV lets you make the image darker or brighter.
PHOTOS, FROM EVERYDAY SHOTS TO RAW
Switch to Photo and capture still images using your chosen shutter speed, automatic ISO and white balance.
Choose HEIF for smaller files or JPEG for broad compatibility. On supported cameras, RAW and Apple ProRAW give you DNG files with more flexibility for editing. RAW records minimally processed sensor data, while Apple ProRAW combines RAW flexibility with Apple’s image processing.
Available formats and resolutions are shown for the selected camera.
VIDEO WITH MORE CHOICE
Record video with sound in 4K, 1080p or 720p. Choose efficient HEVC or widely compatible H.264, with frame rates up to 240 fps in supported configurations.
The app shows compatible combinations for your selected camera and highlights when a higher frame rate requires a faster shutter speed. High-frame-rate recordings play at normal speed, ready to be slowed down in an editor.
Photo and video format preferences are saved separately, so each mode is ready when you switch.
CHOOSE YOUR VIEW AND FOCUS
Switch between your iPhone’s available rear cameras. On supported cameras, native 2× uses a crop from the main sensor for a closer view. RAW and Apple ProRAW use the physical cameras and are unavailable at 2×.
Use continuous autofocus with face priority, tap to choose a focus point, or touch and hold to focus and lock. A visible frame and lock indicator make the focus state easy to see.
COLOUR AND CONTROLS WITHIN REACH
Keep white balance automatic or choose Daylight, Cloudy, Shade, Tungsten or Fluorescent for a fixed setting.
Focus, exposure compensation and white balance are within easy reach. Tap the format button to change capture settings, or hide the controls for a clearer view while keeping the capture button available.
SAVE AND REVIEW
Photos and videos save directly to your Photos library. Tap the thumbnail to view the latest accessible photo or video, zoom into a photo or play back a recording, then return to the camera.
Optional location tagging lets you save where a photo was taken or a video started in Photos. It is off by default.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account, advertising, tracking or third-party analytics. Your photos, videos and location are not sent to the developer. Library preview uses optional Photos read access; you can keep taking photos and recording video without granting it.
Built-in Quick help explains the controls whenever you need it.
COMPATIBILITY
Requires an iPhone running iOS 17 or later. Lenses, formats, resolutions, frame rates and focus options depend on your device and selected camera. Only formats compatible with shutter-priority capture are offered; 24 MP and 48 MP photos are not available in this version.
Fast shutter speeds need sufficient light, and higher ISO can increase noise.
